Gadwal will be a free download from the Mac App Store. Start the 14-day trial from the welcome screen and every feature is unlocked. After the trial you can buy the lifetime unlock, or keep using the free tier. The app shows your price in your local currency.
Free tier and unlock, side by side
| Feature | Free | Trial or unlock |

| Workspace windows | 1 | Unlimited |
| Browse, edit and commit, structure editor, SQL editor, query history | Yes | Yes |
| Export to CSV, JSON or SQL, and CSV import | Yes | Yes |

When you hit a limit, Gadwal opens the unlock sheet and tells you why. It never fails silently. On the free tier, turning on the MCP server opens the unlock sheet. If it was already on when the trial ended, every AI tool call answers that the unlock (or an active trial) is needed.
Refunds
Purchases go through Apple, so refunds are handled at reportaproblem.apple.com.
Family Sharing
The lifetime unlock supports Family Sharing, so people in your Apple family group can use it on their own Macs.
Coming later
Roadmap, not in 1.0. Planned for 1.0.1: scheduled backups, pushing backups to Amazon S3 and Cloudflare R2, a menu bar extra, and Redis and Valkey. Planned for 1.1: schema diff and sync.
Questions
Is it a subscription?
No. The unlock is a one-time in-app purchase.
Does the trial cost anything?
No. The trial is a free in-app item in the App Store. Click Start Free Trial on the welcome screen, or choose Gadwal › Unlock Gadwal… in the app. Nothing is charged to start or end the trial.
What happens to my connections when the trial ends?
Nothing is deleted. The first 2 saved connections stay usable. Any others stay listed but locked until you unlock Gadwal or delete one to make room.
I bought it on one Mac. Can I use it on another?
Yes. Sign in with the same Apple Account and choose Gadwal › Restore Purchases (it is also in the unlock sheet and in Settings › General).
